Fortaleza–Pinto Martins International Airport (FOR) is the main airport of Fortaleza, capital of the state of Ceará in northeastern Brazil. Fraport Brasil runs it, and it handled about 6.2 million passengers in 2025.
LATAM Airlines, GOL and Azul connect Fortaleza with São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Recife, Salvador, Manaus, Belém and other Brazilian cities. International flights go to Lisbon with TAP Air Portugal and LATAM, to Paris and Cayenne with Air France, and to Madrid with Iberia.
All passenger flights use a single three-level terminal: check-in on the ground floor, arrivals and baggage claim on the first floor, and departure gates on the second. The airport sits in the Serrinha district, about 8 to 9 km south of downtown, and the average drive to the city takes around 20 minutes.
From the airport, travelers head to the Meireles, Iracema and Beira Mar seafront, Praia do Futuro, Beach Park in Aquiraz, Cumbuco, Canoa Quebrada and Jericoacoara.

If you arrive from abroad, you pass Federal Police passport control and then customs; US, Canadian and Australian citizens have needed a Brazil e-visa again since April 10, 2025, so have it approved before you fly.
Baggage claim for domestic and international flights is on the first floor of the terminal, next to the car rental counters.
After you exit baggage claim, look for the fixed-fare taxi desks inside the arrivals hall or follow signs to the metered taxi rank. Ride apps such as Uber and 99 pick up on the ground level (piso 0), so follow the app signs downstairs. Pre-booked drivers usually wait in the arrivals hall with a name sign. Ignore people offering rides in the hall and use only official taxis, an app or your booked driver.
Fortaleza is hot and sunny all year, with most rain from February to May. The city is on UTC-3 with no daylight saving time, and Brazil uses the real (BRL).
A taxi, ride app or pre-booked transfer suits most travelers heading to the seafront hotels.
Fixed-fare taxis are sold at desks in the arrivals hall by neighborhood, and metered taxis wait at the signposted rank. Both run 24 hours; the trip to the Beira Mar hotels depends heavily on traffic.
Uber and 99 pick up on the terminal's ground level (piso 0). Average Uber trips to the city take about 19 minutes.
A pre-booked driver meets you in arrivals and suits families and trips to Cumbuco, Beach Park or Jericoacoara, where the last stretch into the village is on sand and needs a 4x4.
Municipal lines including 404, 066 and 027 serve the airport. They are the cheapest option but slow and crowded for travelers with large bags.
Fretcar runs a few buses a day from Fortaleza to Jericoacoara, about 300 km away, with some departures from the airport. The trip takes 6 to 7.5 hours, including a 4x4 connection for the sand road.

Fortaleza–Pinto Martins International Airport is about 8 to 9 km south of downtown Fortaleza, in the Serrinha district. Average ride-app trips between the airport and the city take about 19 minutes. The beachfront hotels along Avenida Beira Mar and Meireles are farther, around 14 km away, and the drive depends heavily on traffic.
Yes. The airport is inside Fortaleza's city limits, in the Serrinha neighborhood south of downtown, surrounded by residential districts. This makes it close to most hotels, but traffic on the main avenues can slow trips at rush hour. The beach areas of Meireles, Iracema and Praia do Futuro are all within the city.
Fortaleza airport has one passenger terminal for all domestic and international flights. It has three passenger levels: check-in on the ground floor, arrivals and baggage claim on the first floor, and departure lounges, the food court and duty-free on the second. The older terminal from 1966 serves only general aviation.
LATAM Airlines, GOL and Azul operate most flights, linking Fortaleza with São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Recife, Salvador, Manaus and many other Brazilian cities. International routes include TAP Air Portugal and LATAM to Lisbon, Air France to Paris and Cayenne, and Iberia to Madrid. All airlines use the single passenger terminal.
Yes. Fixed-fare taxis are sold at desks inside the arrivals hall, with prices set by the neighborhood of your hotel, and metered taxis wait at the signposted rank outside. Both operate 24 hours. Use only these official options, a ride app or a pre-booked driver, and decline offers from people approaching you in the hall.
Yes. Municipal bus lines including 404, 066 and 027 stop at the airport and connect it with different parts of Fortaleza. Buses are the cheapest way into the city, but they can be crowded and slow, and they are hard to use with large suitcases. Most visitors with luggage take a taxi, ride app or transfer.
Yes. Uber and the Brazilian app 99 both operate at Fortaleza airport. Pickups are on the ground level of the terminal (piso 0), below arrivals, so follow the app signs after leaving baggage claim. Average Uber trips between the airport and the city cover about 9 km and take around 19 minutes.
It depends on your nationality. US, Canadian and Australian citizens have needed a Brazil e-visa again since April 10, 2025, and airlines check for it before boarding. Many European and South American travelers can visit visa-free for tourism. Confirm the current rules for your passport with Brazil's consular services before you travel.
Jericoacoara is about 300 km west of Fortaleza. Fretcar buses run a few times a day, some from the airport, and take 6 to 7.5 hours. A 4x4 transfer takes about four hours. The paved road ends at Jijoca, and the last 28 km to the village are on sand, so ordinary cars must stop there.
Beach Park is in Aquiraz, on the coast east of Fortaleza. The park says it is about 20 km from Fortaleza, roughly a 20-minute drive from the city. From the airport, most visitors reach the park by taxi, ride app or pre-booked transfer, which lets you go straight from the terminal to the park or its resort hotels.
Fortaleza is on UTC-3 all year, with no daylight saving time. The climate is tropical, hot and sunny year-round with the rainy season mostly between February and May, while the second half of the year is drier. Brazil's currency is the real (BRL), and cards are widely accepted.
Fraport Brasil, part of Germany's Fraport group, has operated Fortaleza–Pinto Martins airport since January 2018 under a 30-year concession, taking over from Infraero. The airport handled about 6.2 million passengers in 2025, up from about 5.6 million in 2024, helped by new flights to Europe.
