GOL is a Brazilian airline that began flying on January 15, 2001. The operating company, GOL Linhas Aéreas S.A., is part of Abra Group and has its head office in São Paulo. GOL does not belong to a global alliance and works with partners through codeshare agreements, including American Airlines.
Rio de Janeiro–Galeão is its main hub and the base for its long-haul flights, alongside hubs at São Paulo–Guarulhos, São Paulo–Congonhas and Brasília. From these airports GOL serves 84 destinations in Brazil, South America, the Caribbean, the United States and Europe, with nonstop flights from Rio de Janeiro to New York and Lisbon.
The fleet is built around the Boeing 737 family (737-700, 737-800 and 737 MAX 8), with Airbus A330 widebodies on routes from Rio de Janeiro.
