Terminal 1
International arrivals and departures, with the only immigration and customs hall. Since the 2025 expansion, passengers with checked bags check in here for all flights.
Also known as: Krabi Airport, KBV Airport.
KBV · VTSG · Krabi
Krabi International Airport (KBV) is the airport for Krabi Province on the Andaman coast of southern Thailand. It stands in Nuea Khlong district, east of Krabi Town, and the Department of Airports runs it.
Most flights are domestic. Thai AirAsia, Thai Airways, Thai Lion Air, Thai VietJet Air and Nok Air link Krabi with Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports, and Bangkok Airways flies to Koh Samui. International routes reach Kuala Lumpur with AirAsia and Firefly, Singapore with Scoot, Indian cities with IndiGo, and Dubai and Sharjah with flydubai and Air Arabia, while seasonal flights in the northern winter come from Scandinavia and Europe. The airport handled about 3.1 million passengers in 2025.
The terminal buildings stand side by side and are joined inside. Terminal 1 handles international flights and has the immigration hall, and a new domestic terminal opened in 2025 as part of an expansion to about 8 million passengers a year.
Krabi Town is about 15 km (9 miles) west, around 20 to 30 minutes by road, and Ao Nang beach is about 45 minutes away. From Ao Nang and the piers near it, longtail boats run to Railay, and ferries from Krabi leave for Koh Phi Phi and other islands.

On an international flight you arrive in Terminal 1, the only terminal with immigration. Have your passport and your Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) confirmation ready for the officer; visa-free stays and visa rules depend on your nationality.
After immigration, collect your bags at the carousels on the lower level and walk through customs into the arrivals hall. Domestic flights arrive on the domestic side of the building and lead straight to their own baggage claim and arrivals exit.
In the Terminal 1 arrivals hall you find currency exchange counters, ATMs, car rental desks and an information desk. Taxi and airport bus counters are in the arrivals area, and pre-booked drivers wait with name signs just outside the arrival gates. Cash in Thai baht is useful for small purchases.
Thailand is on Indochina Time (UTC+7) all year, with no daylight saving time.
The airport bus suits light travelers headed to Krabi Town or Ao Nang; a taxi or pre-booked car is easier with luggage, children or a late arrival.
White airport buses run from the arrivals area to Krabi Town and Ao Nang from early morning until late evening, with tickets sold at a counter in the terminal. They leave when full and stop at several hotels on the way.
Taxi counters in the arrivals hall sell fixed-fare rides to Krabi Town, Ao Nang and the beaches. About 45 minutes to Ao Nang, with little waiting outside peak hours.
A pre-booked car or van meets you at the arrivals exit with a name sign and drives straight to your hotel or pier, which suits families, groups and late arrivals.
Hertz, Budget, National, Sixt and Thai Rent a Car have desks in the Terminal 1 arrivals hall. Traffic drives on the left.
Combined van and car ferry services to Koh Lanta are sold in the arrivals area. The trip includes two short car ferry crossings.

The terminals are in one complex, and a covered walkway of about 50 m links Terminal 1 with the domestic side. Follow the signs; an elevator and escalators connect the levels in Terminal 1.
Since the 2025 expansion, travelers with checked bags check in at zones A and B on the upper floor of Terminal 1 and then walk to their gate: gates 1 to 7 for international flights, gates 8 to 14 for domestic flights.

International and Thai car rental companies have desks in the Terminal 1 arrivals hall.
A prayer room is on the walkway above international departures in Terminal 1.
Wrapping services are near the Terminal 1 entrance doors.
Souvenir shops are in both terminals, and a small duty-free shop is in the international baggage claim area.
Ask your airline for wheelchair help or other assistance when you book, ideally at least 48 hours before you fly.
The terminals are wheelchair accessible, with elevators and escalators between the levels of Terminal 1. Airport information can be reached on +66 75 636 541.
A parking building next to the terminals was upgraded in the 2025 expansion, with room for about 2,000 cars.
A smaller open-air parking lot sits beside the domestic terminal.
Ao Nang is about 45 minutes by road from Krabi International Airport, depending on traffic and where your hotel is along the beach. The airport bus, airport taxis and pre-booked cars all serve Ao Nang. From Ao Nang beach, longtail boats run on to Railay, which has no road access.
Krabi Town is about 15 km (9 miles) west of the airport, around 20 to 30 minutes by road along Highway 4. The white airport bus stops in town, taxis wait at the counters in the arrivals hall, and local songthaews run along the main road outside the airport grounds.
Krabi airport has three connected terminal buildings. Terminal 1 handles international flights and has the only immigration hall, while domestic flights use Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, which opened in 2025. Since the expansion, travelers with checked bags check in at Terminal 1, then walk to gates 1 to 7 for international flights or 8 to 14 for domestic flights.
Thai AirAsia, Thai Airways, Thai Lion Air, Thai VietJet Air and Nok Air fly to Bangkok, and Bangkok Airways serves Koh Samui. AirAsia and Firefly fly to Kuala Lumpur, Scoot to Singapore, IndiGo to Indian cities, and flydubai and Air Arabia to Dubai and Sharjah. Etihad, Finnair, SAS and charter airlines add seasonal flights in the northern winter.
Yes. White airport buses leave from the arrivals area for Krabi Town and Ao Nang, from early morning until late evening, with tickets sold at a counter in the terminal. They usually wait until enough passengers board and stop at several hotels, so a taxi or private car is faster with luggage.
Railay has no road access, so you go by car or bus to Ao Nang beach or Ao Nam Mao pier and take a longtail boat across. The boat ride is short, but boats can stop in rough weather or at low tide, and you may wade ashore with your bags, so pack light.
Koh Lanta is south of Krabi and reached by road with two short car ferry crossings, or by passenger boat from Krabi in season. Combined van and ferry services are sold in the airport arrivals area, and private cars can also make the trip, which takes most of an afternoon including the ferries.
Not from the airport itself. Ferries to Koh Phi Phi leave from Klong Jilad pier near Krabi Town and, in season, from Ao Nang. Take a taxi, bus or pre-booked car to the pier and allow time to check in for the boat, especially on a same-day flight connection.
Many travelers do not. Since 15 September 2026, citizens of about 60 countries and territories can stay visa-free for up to 30 days, and others need a visa or visa on arrival. All foreign arrivals must also complete the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online before landing. Check the rule for your passport before you fly.
Yes. Exchange counters are on the lower level of Terminal 1, in the arrivals hall on the way to the exit, and ATMs are in both terminals. Carry some Thai baht for the airport bus, small shops and tips, although cards are accepted in most hotels and larger restaurants in Ao Nang and Krabi Town.
Yes. Hertz, Budget, National, Sixt and Thai Rent a Car have desks in the Terminal 1 arrivals hall, and cars can be booked ahead online. Thailand drives on the left, and many visitors need an International Driving Permit along with their home license, so check with the rental company before you travel.
No. Krabi International Airport (KBV) and Phuket International Airport (HKT) are separate airports on opposite sides of Phang Nga Bay, about three hours apart by road. Some flights advertised for the Krabi area land in Phuket, so check the code on your ticket before arranging onward travel to Ao Nang or the islands.
Krabi airport is on Indochina Time, UTC+7, like the rest of Thailand, and the country does not use daylight saving time. That puts Krabi seven hours ahead of London in the northern winter and six hours ahead in summer, and eleven or twelve hours ahead of New York depending on the season.
