Falcone–Borsellino Airport (PMO), also known as Punta Raisi, serves Palermo on the island of Sicily in Italy. It handled about 9.2 million passengers in 2025, around a third of them on international flights.
Ryanair, Volotea, easyJet and Wizz Air fly to mainland Italian cities such as Rome, Milan, Naples, Turin and Venice, and to cities across Europe including Paris, London, Barcelona, Berlin and Warsaw. ITA Airways flies to Rome and Milan Linate, Lufthansa to Munich and Frankfurt, Turkish Airlines to Istanbul, and DAT to the small islands of Lampedusa and Pantelleria. In summer, Neos and United Airlines add seasonal flights to the New York area.
All flights use a single terminal, with the arrivals hall on the ground floor and a railway station on the level below.
The airport sits on the coast at Cinisi, about 35 km west of central Palermo along the A29 motorway. From here, travelers head to Palermo, Cefalù, Trapani, Agrigento and Sciacca.

If you arrive from outside the Schengen area, you go through passport control before baggage claim; flights from other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation.
After collecting your bags and passing customs, you exit into the arrivals hall on the ground floor. The official taxi rank is right outside the arrivals exit, next to a taxi information desk. Airport buses to Palermo stop outside arrivals on the right, and the railway station is one level down, reached without crossing a road. If you booked a driver, look for them in the arrivals hall. Take rides only from the official taxi rank or with a driver you arranged, and turn down offers from people who approach you inside the terminal.
Palermo has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters. Sicily uses Central European Time and the euro.
The airport bus and the train are the simplest public options into Palermo, while a taxi or private transfer suits travelers with heavy luggage or late-night arrivals.
Prestia e Comandè buses leave every 30 minutes from outside arrivals, on the right, stopping at Politeama, Via Roma and Palermo Centrale station, about 50 minutes away. The first bus leaves around 05:05 and the last around 01:05, so nothing runs in the early hours.
Trains to Palermo Centrale leave from the station on the level below the terminal, usually twice an hour, and take about an hour. Platforms are reached by ramps and there is no lift.
The official taxi rank is at the arrivals exit, with an information desk alongside, and there are bays for shared taxis. Travel time depends on traffic on the A29, and if the rank is empty you may wait around 20 minutes for a cooperative taxi.
Regional coach companies stop outside the terminal with routes to Trapani, Agrigento, Sciacca and, in summer only, Cefalù. Departures are less frequent than the city bus, so check timetables before you land.
A pre-booked driver meets you in the arrivals hall and drives straight to your address in Palermo or elsewhere in Sicily. It suits groups and late arrivals but has to be arranged ahead.
Uber operates in Palermo through Uber Black, which uses licensed private-hire drivers. Fewer cars are available than in large cities, so keep the taxi rank as a backup.

No. The airport is in the town of Cinisi on the coast west of Palermo, about 35 km from the city center. It is also called Punta Raisi after the headland where it stands. Buses, trains, taxis and pre-booked transfers connect it with the city, and coaches run onward to other parts of western Sicily.

In summer, Neos flies to New York JFK and United Airlines to Newark. All airlines use the same terminal.
The official taxi rank is directly outside the arrivals exit on the ground floor, next to a taxi information desk. There are also bays for shared taxis. If no cars are waiting, the desk can call a taxi cooperative, with a wait of around 20 minutes. Use only the official rank rather than accepting offers inside the terminal.

Uber operates in Palermo through Uber Black, which uses drivers with licensed private-hire vehicles, so you can request a ride in the app. Fewer cars are available than in large cities, especially late at night. The official taxi rank outside arrivals and the airport bus are reliable alternatives if no car is nearby.
Italy is in the Schengen area, so standard Schengen entry rules apply, and many nationalities can visit visa-free for short stays. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Flights from other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks.
Regional coach companies stop outside the terminal with direct routes to Trapani, Agrigento and Sciacca, and a summer-only service to Cefalù. These buses run less often than the city bus, so check timetables before you travel. You can also reach these towns by taxi or private transfer, or take the train into Palermo and change there.
Palermo uses Central European Time (UTC+1) and switches to summer time (UTC+2) from late March to late October. The currency is the euro (EUR). Sicily has a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild, wetter winters, so light clothing works for most of the year.
The airport is operated by GESAP S.p.A., whose shareholders include the city and province of Palermo. It handled about 9.2 million passengers in 2025, its highest total so far, with around 3.1 million on international flights. It has two crossing runways and opened to flights in 1960.
