About Cancún International Airport

Cancún International Airport is Mexico’s second-busiest airport and one of Latin America’s leading gateways for international passengers. Located in Quintana Roo, it is the principal airport for Cancún, the Riviera Maya and much of the Yucatán Peninsula, with connections to more than 100 cities across the Americas and Europe.

The airport is a hub for Viva Aerobus and a focus city for Volaris and Magnicharters. It also receives extensive service from major U.S. and Canadian airlines, connecting Cancún with a broad network of hubs and vacation markets.

Operated by Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR), the airport also handles general aviation, executive aviation, flight training and international charter services. Cozumel International Airport and Tulum International Airport are alternative gateways for parts of the region.

Departing from Cancun International Airport

Confirm your airline and departure terminal before leaving your hotel because terminals are separate. Allow extra time for traffic, airline check-in and security, particularly on weekends and during holidays. Moving between terminals

Cancun International Airport’s passenger terminals are separate buildings. A complimentary airport shuttle connects the active terminals, and published airport information indicates departures approximately every 10 minutes. Walking between terminals is not recommended with luggage because routes and pedestrian access vary.

Allow additional connection time when changing terminals, especially if you must collect baggage, clear immigration or customs, and check in again. Always verify the arrival and departure terminals with the operating airline because assignments can change.

Terminal 1

Dedicated primarily to charter and private flights. It has seven gates, numbered 1 through 7, three helicopter stands and a VIP lounge, with services designed for private aviation.

Terminal 2

The airport’s oldest terminal, handling both domestic and international arrivals and departures. It has 22 gates: A1 through A11 in a satellite building and B12 through B22 in the main building. It serves most domestic airlines, international flights to Central and South America, and selected long-haul services to Europe.
