Paris-Orly Airport

ORY · LFPO · Paris

Ground transportation

Travellers can choose among Metro Line 14, the Orlyval and RER B, the tram T7, buses, official taxis and pre-booked private transportation. The best option depends on your destination, the size of your group, your luggage and your arrival time. The Orlybus service ended in March 2025.

  • Metro Line 14

The fastest public link to central Paris. The Aéroport d'Orly station is next to Orly 3, and trains reach Gare de Lyon in about 20 to 25 minutes and Châtelet shortly after. Trains run frequently from early morning until around 1:00 am. A Paris Region <> Airports ticket is required.

  • Orlyval and RER B

The Orlyval shuttle train links Orly 1-2-3 and Orly 4 with Antony station, where you change to RER B for Denfert-Rochereau, Saint-Michel, Châtelet and Gare du Nord. Allow about 35 to 40 minutes to central Paris. The Paris Region <> Airports ticket covers the whole journey.

  • Tram T7

Leaves from outside Orly 4 for Villejuif–Louis Aragon, the terminus of Metro Line 7, in about 35 to 40 minutes. Slower but cheaper, using a standard ticket.

  • Buses

Bus 183 links the airport with Pont de Rungis (RER C) and Porte de Choisy. At night, Noctilien buses N22, N31, N131 and N144 serve central Paris stations.

  • Taxis

Take official Paris taxis only from the marked ranks outside each terminal. Fixed fares, set by the authorities, apply between Orly and the Left Bank and Right Bank of Paris; the rates are posted at the rank and in the taxi.

  • Private transportation

Pre-booked private transportation takes you directly to your hotel, home or train station in Paris and across the Île-de-France region, including Versailles, La Défense and Disneyland Paris, with pickup instructions confirmed before you land.

About Paris-Orly Airport

Paris Orly Airport is the second-busiest airport in France after Paris–Charles de Gaulle and the country's busiest for domestic traffic. It lies about 13 km south of central Paris, straddling the Val-de-Marne and Essonne departments, and handled approximately 34.9 million passengers in 2025.

The airport is operated by Groupe ADP under the Paris Aéroport brand. It is a hub for Air Caraïbes and a base for Transavia, easyJet, Vueling, Corsair, French Bee and La Compagnie. Its network is dominated by short- and medium-haul flights to Europe, North Africa and mainland France, alongside long-haul services to the French Caribbean, Réunion, French Polynesia, North America and Africa.

Air France ended its mainland flights from Orly on 29 March 2026 to concentrate on Charles de Gaulle, and Transavia took over most of its domestic routes. Flights to Corsica operated under a public-service arrangement continue from Orly.

Since June 2024, Metro Line 14 has linked the airport directly to central Paris, making Orly one of the most accessible airports in Europe by public transport.

Departing from Paris Orly Airport

Check your terminal on your boarding pass or airline app before leaving for the airport. Orly 1, 2 and 3 form one connected building and Orly 4 is a short walk away, so a terminal mix-up costs minutes rather than a missed flight, but security queues can be long during school holidays and on Friday and Sunday evenings.

Orly has a night curfew: no take-offs are scheduled between 23:30 and 06:00, so the first wave of departures is concentrated early in the morning. If you are on a 06:00–07:30 flight, plan your transfer the evening before, because public transport starts only shortly before then.

For live flight information, consult the Paris Aéroport flight search and confirm gate changes, delays and cancellations with the operating airline.

Airport operator, runways and traffic

Paris Orly Airport is operated by Groupe ADP under the Paris Aéroport brand. It has three runways, a night curfew and an annual cap on take-off and landing slots.

Runway 06/24

Approximately 3,650 metres (11,975 feet). The main runway.

Runway 07/25

Approximately 3,320 metres (10,892 feet).

Runway 02/20

Approximately 2,400 metres (7,874 feet).

Night curfew

No take-offs are scheduled between 23:30 and 06:00, and no landings between 23:30 and 06:15. Movements are also capped at 250,000 slots a year.

Passengers in 2025

Approximately 34.9 million. Passenger totals change annually and should be checked against Groupe ADP's latest traffic report.

Arrival tips for Paris-Orly Airport

After landing, follow the Sortie / Exit and Bagages / Baggage signs. What happens next depends on where you have flown from.

Schengen and non-Schengen arrivals

  • From a Schengen country (most of the EU, plus Switzerland, Norway and Iceland): there is no passport control. You go straight to baggage claim and the arrivals hall, although random identity and customs checks can take place.
  • From outside the Schengen area (including the United Kingdom, North Africa, North America and the French overseas departments): you pass border police before baggage claim. Eligible EU, EEA and Swiss travellers with biometric passports can often use the automated PARAFE gates.
  • Non-EU visitors are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) on their first entry, which records fingerprints and a facial image. Allow extra time at the border on your first trip after the system came into force.

Immigration, baggage claim and customs

  1. Follow signs to border control if your flight arrived from outside the Schengen area and present your passport or national ID card.
  2. Collect your checked baggage from the carousel shown on the screens for your flight.
  3. Report missing or damaged baggage to your airline's baggage desk before leaving the baggage hall.
  4. Pass through customs using the green channel (nothing to declare) or the red channel (goods to declare).
  5. Exit into the public arrivals hall and follow the instructions from your transportation provider.

Items left on the aircraft and checked-baggage problems are handled by the airline. Items lost inside the terminal are handled by the airport's lost property service.

Arrival tips

  • Documents Carry a valid passport or, for EU citizens, a national ID card. Check visa and entry requirements before you fly.
  • Currency France uses the euro. Cards, including contactless, are accepted almost everywhere.
  • Transportation Use only official taxis from the marked rank, or a transfer you have pre-booked. Decline offers from people approaching you in the arrivals hall.
  • Connectivity Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminals.
  • Local time Paris is on Central European Time (UTC+1), and UTC+2 from late March to late October.

Destinations from Paris-Orly Airport

Paris Orly Airport is the closest Paris airport to the city centre and to the south of the region. Typical road journey times, which depend heavily on traffic on the A6 and the Boulevard Périphérique, include:

  • Right Bank of Paris (30–50 minutes from Orly) The Louvre, the Marais, Opéra, the Champs-Élysées and Montmartre.

Journey times are longer during the weekday morning and evening rush hours.

Moving between terminals

Orly 1, Orly 2 and Orly 3 are a single building, linked by Orly 3, the junction terminal opened in 2019. You can walk between them airside and landside in a few minutes. Orly 4 is connected to Orly 3 by an indoor walkway, about 5 to 10 minutes on foot.

The Orlyval shuttle train has two stops at the airport, Orly 1-2-3 and Orly 4, and travel between them is free. Metro Line 14 stops at the Aéroport d'Orly station beside Orly 3.

Allow extra connection time if you need to collect baggage, pass border control or check in again. Always check the terminal with the operating airline, because assignments can change.

Terminals

Orly's terminals are numbered Orly 1 to Orly 4. Terminal assignments change with the seasons and individual flights, so the airline's boarding pass, app or confirmation should always be treated as the final source.

  • Restaurants and cafés

ATMs and currency-exchange counters are available in the terminals. Check the exchange rate and fees before accepting a conversion offered by an ATM or card terminal.

  • Pharmacy and medical needs

A pharmacy and medical assistance are available at the airport. Carry prescription medicine in your hand luggage, in its original packaging, together with any supporting documentation.

Orly's lounges are in Orly 1, Orly 2 and Orly 4. Facilities can include Wi-Fi, refreshments, flight-information screens and work areas. Access may come with a premium ticket, airline status, a lounge membership programme or paid entry, subject to capacity. Air France's Orly lounges closed when the airline left the airport in March 2026. Check hours, prices and access rules with the lounge before you fly.

  • Orly 1

Premium Traveller Lounge, airside. Accepts several lounge-membership programmes and paid entry.

  • Orly 2

Extime Lounge (paid entry), Primeclass Lounge, used by several long-haul airlines and open to membership programmes and paid entry, and the Royal Air Maroc lounge for the airline's premium passengers.

Accessibility and passenger assistance

Passengers with reduced mobility or other assistance needs should request help from their airline when booking, and at least 48 hours before departure. Paris Aéroport provides free assistance from arrival at the airport to the aircraft, and from the aircraft to the exit, through its dedicated assistance service.

The terminals have lifts, ramps, adapted restrooms and reserved parking spaces. Metro Line 14, the Orlyval and the tram T7 are step-free. On arrival, tell the cabin crew before leaving the aircraft if assistance has been requested.

Parking

Official car parks sit directly opposite the terminals for short stays, with long-stay and economy car parks further out, linked to the terminals by a free shuttle bus. Prices vary by car park and length of stay, and booking online in advance through Paris Aéroport is usually cheaper than paying on the day. A drop-off area operates in front of each terminal; waiting there is not allowed.
